SCITT Courses - North East and Durham
Becoming a teacher, based in the North East, may be something you have been considering for a while and the particular value of our SCITT North East course is that it offers real involvement in the teaching environment, at a primary school, from your very first days of training. SCITT stands for School-Centred Initial Teacher Training – as noted, if you get a place on our course, you’ll receive training from already-practising teachers and spend time learning in their schools.
What Next When You Undertake SCITT Teacher Training?
You’ll be working towards a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), but to be able to teach in the UK, you must also have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Everyone who successfully passes our SCITT course will receive a PGCE and be awarded QTS status. Once you’ve completed our PGCE and gained QTS, you can gain employment in a school as a Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT)!
