High Force Education is an outstanding provider of teacher training established in 2002 and serving the whole of the North East. We have a wealth of experienced mentors and tutors who offer trainee teachers the very best support and guidance.
We have Learning Hubs that support teacher training in North Yorkshire (working with schools in the Swaledale Alliance), County Durham and Darlington so wherever you live in the North East we can help you as your journey to becoming a teacher begins!
At High Force we pride ourselves on the support we give to our trainees, nurturing their talent and helping them on the first steps of what we hope will be a very successful career. Education is considered to be a small provider and we recognise that every journey to be a teacher is unique. We have the ability to personalise the programme and staff members are very accessible to trainees. Our trainees feel well supported and listened to and 100% of our trainees would recommend our programme.
High Force Education has undergone four Ofsted inspections and has continuously been recognised as an outstanding provider. Our 2015/16 Ofsted report confirmed that the quality of our overall effectiveness and our capacity to sustain and improve the already high-quality outcomes for trainees is outstanding.
Our programme is delivered by practising teachers who are able to share with trainees the very real demands, challenges and joys of primary teaching today. We aim to prepare you to teach effectively in all primary schools and help you to meet high professional standards. This is the beginning of your professional learning journey which will continue throughout your career. The course provides you with a theoretical and practical knowledge and understanding of how children learn and develop. It will develop your skills, knowledge and understanding as effective classroom practitioners. One of our main aims is to produce teachers of the highest quality who are reflective, creative, imaginative and responsive to children’s needs. Through the programme we aim for you to become skilful practitioners able to establish a stimulating and challenging learning environment using a range of teaching and management strategies to effectively support the children in meeting their full potential as learners.
What is a SCITT?
A ‘School Centred Initial Teacher Training’ course is based in and run by schools and therefore offers you an immersive training experience. A fantastic feature of SCITT training is that, from day one, you are in a school environment, which enables you to acquire quickly, the depth of knowledge and range of skills required for effective teaching. SCITT programmes allow you to be taught by experienced, practising teachers specifically tailored towards your teaching needs.
If you prefer to spend more time training in the classroom environment, putting theory into practice and gaining confidence through increased contact with the school environment, then a SCITT programme is the right option for you.
