Assessment Day

Morning session - Candidates will have four parts to the morning.

  • Group task
  • Observed whilst reading a story to KS1 children
  • Deliver a presentation on a previously supplied topic for a period of 10 minutes to KS2 children
  • Complete an English audit

Over lunch candidates will be joined by either current members of the course or NQTs who will talk about their experience of the course and their life as a teacher.

During this session the interviewers will decide who should proceed to the second part of the interview and candidates will be informed by the end of the lunch break.

Complete a mathematics audit
Have an individual interview

During the interview the selection panel will assess:

The extent to which the applicant possess the commitment, personal and intellectual qualities suitable for teaching
The ability to reflect on teaching and learning
Experience of working with children in schools or in more informal settings
Knowledge and understanding of the responsibilities of teachers
Ability to establish good working relationships
Ability to adapt to situations and your resilience
Evidence of your continuing professional development
Knowledge of current and educational topics
Awareness of the importance of effective behaviour management strategies


Candidates will be informed of the result of their interview in writing within one week.
